Sony and Paramount Skip San Diego Comic Con

Are we missing something?  Well, yes, apparently, according to Variety, if you’re going to San Diego Comic Con this year.   Marvel, Sony and Paramount to be precise.

The studios say “It wasn’t a knock against Comic-Con.  The film cycles just didn’t allow it.”

Facing the competition of “Star Wars”, “The Hunger Games”, “Fantastic Four” and DC Entertainment’s entire lineup of movies, it seems that Sony and Paramount felt they just didn’t have enough geeky movies to promote at the Mecca of Conventions.

Marvel announced that they were bowing out of SDCC earlier this month in a shocking move that has many speculating that they will use Disney’s D23 to make all of their big announcements at.

Martin Freeman Joins the Cast of Captain America: Civil War

“From his roles as Bilbo Baggins and Doctor Watson to Tim in The Office, Martin’s range from the dramatic to the comedic has consistently impressed us,” said Marvel’s Kevin Feige in a statement. “We couldn’t be more honored or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Now comes the fun of trying to guess what character Freeman will play in the upcoming movie!

Captain America: Civil War is set to be in theaters on  May 6, 2016.
